Sydney sisters Geena and Caillie Dunne launched their charity The Cova Project in March this year, with the aim of ending period poverty across Africa. Now, The Cova Project is gearing up for its first Australian fundraiser and it’s set to be a bloody good time!

“Having a period related charity is a challenge. It’s not exactly an easy subject to launch into, so we wanted to create the ultimate comfort zone for our donors, before we dove into the details. Think Messina ice-cream, PANA chocolate, Fluffë’s artisanal fairy floss and Archie Rose Distilling Co. cocktails, all the comforts we rely on around that time of the month! We love our donors, they change lives with their generosity, so we wanted to provide them with an incredible experience.” says Geena.

Not only are the duo focused on indulgence but quality,

“We picked our partner carefully. The Cova Project is a trustworthy, quality Australian charity and we wanted a partner that matched those qualities, which is why we looked for a wonderful company like Archie Rose Distilling Co.”

The Cova Project has helped 3,000 girls across Liberia, Malawi, South Africa and Uganda since its inception a year ago and the sisters say they’re just getting started.

“We provide menstrual cups and menstrual health education to girls in developing communities. Girls without access to sanitary products miss up to 50 days of school each year and are often forced to drop out. We’re into simple solutions and with our work so far, we’ve proven the cup is just that. Plus, one cup is just $7 and they last up to 10 years... Quite frankly, it’s a little silicone scholarship for a lot of these girls.”

The Cova Project’s Sydney Fundraising event is Thursday, October 10th.

A great night for a great cause, supported by Austalia’s best food and bevs. But you’d better hurry, tickets are limited and they’re almost all gone!
